Interesting, I got this book on mushrooms of the gulf states and was appalled to find out there were way more than about 4 types which I had expected. So I went into a mental fetal position as I had all these mushroomy things fulminating around my house all the time and I didn’t know what a single one was. So now I know what these are, Coprinellus disseminatus, trooping crumble cap, a.k.a. fairy ink cap, described as a “gregarious little fungus”. How nice. It’s very odd, it rains here and they blob up out of the ground almost immediately like in the movie, and about 24 hours later they all shrivel up and flop over.
